House Democrat Waxman Puts Inquisition Screws on Health Insurers

Democrats in Congress are investigating opponents of ObamaCare:

Democrats on a House committee are seeking detailed financial records from dozens of large insurance companies, officials disclosed Tuesday, part of an investigation into "executive compensation and other business practices" in an industry opposed to President Barack Obama's plan to overhaul health care. ...
The requests were made in letters signed by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., ... and Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich. ...
They wrote that the committee was "examining executive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry." ...
Nick Choate, a spokesman for Stupak, said 52 letters were sent late Monday to the nation's largest health insurers, those with $2 billion or more in annual premiums. He said letters were not sent to other industry groups, some of which have been airing television advertising in support of Obama's call for legislation.
This is an unseemly and outrageous misuse of power by Democrat leaders in Congress. The leaders had previously called out these insurers as the 'enemy' on ObamaCare. This fishing expedition is an attempt to advance that narrative that demonizes the private health insureres, as well as a method for intimidation. I'd make some pithy partisan potshot, but I am left speechless with how breezily Democrats in DC abuse power to supress dissent.

If you aren't outraged, you aren't paying attention.

May God give us the strength, and foresight to persevere, in our task to keep this Republic.
