Hype meltdown over ice sheet

Media meltdown over Wilkins Ice Shelf collapse is over 0.01% of Antartica's ice sheet breaks off, while Antarctic ice mass has been increasing overall.

Speaking of meltdown, the IPCC is getting frantic over lack of actual warming and lack of ocean heating. A cold 2007 and 2008 is making trends look much less ominous than the hype predicted.

Global warming hot air is running up against cold, hard facts. Expect a storm front when the two finally clash in full.

First evidence of under-ice volcanic eruption in Antarctica
The volcano on the West Antarctic Ice Sheet erupted 2000 years ago and remains active.

The volcano is located beneath the West Antarctic ice sheet in the Hudson Mountains at latitude 74.6 South, longitude 97 West.
The subglacial volcano has a volcanic explosion index of around 3-4. Heat from the volcano creates melt-water that lubricates the base of the ice sheet and increases the flow towards the sea.

Volcano under antarctica - interesting.
That indicates that all the media hyping 'global warming' as the cause of one part of ice sheet breaking off is just that - hype.

Meanwhile, the rest of antarctica gets colder.
