The Price of Freedom

A Memorial Day reminder of the price of freedom, paid by those who served:

Since the War of Independence started in 1776 over 650,000 men and women have lost their lives in battle to secure our independence, protect our country, preserve our union and protect the freedoms of countries throughout the world. More than half a million additional soldiers have died in service outside the theater of war. They died servicing us! Among those honored, today we remember.

Remembering the Veterans

Observations on Veterans Days from veteran Steve Morgan of Bryan, Texas. He observes:

While watching the participants in the parade pass by I could not help but meditate and reflect briefly on friends of mine that served with me in Vietnam; especially those who died there. In 1968 we came back to a hostile and treacherous reception and I’m grateful that veterans serving now seem to be more appreciated. I wondered why there had been no mention of the six Americans massacred in Afghanistan less than twenty four hours earlier. Especially on Veterans Day, the day we honor all who have served for their bravery and sacrifice. None of their families or loved ones will ever be able to enjoy Veterans Day again as I have and will again. My thoughts and prayers were with those families; the motivation of any and all six of those men was to keep us free and we should honor their bravery.
He closes with this good quote:
It was the ancient Greek Historian Thucydides (460 B. C. ~ C. 395 B. C) who said “Be convinced that to be happy means to be free and that to be free means to be brave. Therefore do not take lightly the perils of war.”

Missouri Republican Assembly Endorses Duncan Hunter for President

Jefferson City, MO – Saturday, November 3 at their Quarterly Membership Meeting, the Missouri Republican Assembly voted to endorse Congressman Duncan Hunter, 14-term congressman from California, for President in Missouri’s Republican Primary. “Congressman Hunter is a true social conservative and honestly represents the Republican Wing of the Republican Party,” stated Chris Brown, state President of the Missouri Republican Assembly. “When you add together Duncan Hunter’s commitment to the military, American jobs, and fighting for Family and Life issues, there is no better choice for President. America needs Hunter’s integrity, courage and proven leadership.”

Hunter is a Vietnam veteran who served in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers, and who has continued to fight for this country since first elected to Congress in 1980. While in Congress he has served on the House Armed Services Committee where he works on America’s national security needs. While serving as the Ranking Member of this committee he has protected U.S. defense jobs in aircraft, ship repair, machine tools, textile, steel and titanium to ensure that what he calls the “Arsenal of Democracy”, the U.S. industrial base, is maintained to provide security in time of war.

Hunter has successfully made border security a national security issue and has responded by leading efforts in Congress to seal a porous border susceptible to illegal aliens, drug trafficking and terrorism. Hunter’s efforts have resulted in over 59 miles of fencing and border infrastructure to date in San Diego County. Hunter also wrote the Secure Fence Act, extending the San Diego fence 854 miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. President Bush signed these fence provisions into law on October 26, 2006.

Hunter is fighting for a new policy on fair trade for the American worker. Hunter realizes that China is cheating on trade and using billions of American trade dollars to hurt middle-class Americans, by stealing American jobs. He is committed to bringing jobs back to America by fighting for Fair and Equitable Trade.

The Missouri Republican Assembly (MRA) is a member of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies. The MRA works to unite conservatives, both economic and social, whose interests range from tax cuts and reform to national defense, from pro- life to education concerns, from Second Amendment to national sovereignty, and for the advancement of traditional Republican values.

Those Attempting to Rewrite History are Probably Planning to Repeat It

I received this from my friend Bernard Williams, WW2 Navy Veteran:

We cannot, we must not, ever forget what happened in Europe over 60 years ago, because it could happen again. Anyone, any group, could be the target.

It has been said that those who refuse to study history are doomed to repeat it. In this case, those who are attempting to rewrite history are probably planning to repeat it! The hatred is already there, in place, taught to the children from infancy, with promises of glory and honor to those who carry out the plans. Forewarned is forearmed, and I'm doing my small part by forwarding this message. I hope you'll do the same.

In Memoriam

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This blog post is in memory of the six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian peoples looking the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iran, among others, claiming the Holocaust to be "a myth," it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets, because the Islamo-Facists want to do it again.

A Gathering of Eagles

A Gathering of Eagles was a patriotic gathering of veterans and others to support the tropps and the mission and protect veteran memorials from desecration by the leftist anti-war protesters. The WashPost reported the Gathering numbered in the thousands, unusual for a 'support the troops' rally:

"As war protesters marched toward Arlington Memorial Bridge en route to the Pentagon yesterday, they were flanked by long lines of military veterans and others who stood in solidarity with U.S. troops and the Bush administration's cause in Iraq."

It was a Miracle in Washington. Here are pictures from the Gathering of Eagles caravan, and report and pics of the rally.
